Privacy policy
Plain language, no legal fog. This policy covers this website and, separately, what a school's own self-hosted AnkiTov server stores.
This website (ankitov.com)
This site collects essentially nothing. There are no analytics, no trackers, no advertising, no cookies, and no JavaScript that phones home. The site loads no third-party resources of any kind. The only personal information we ever receive is your email address, and only if you choose to write to us.
A school's self-hosted AnkiTov server
AnkiTov is self-hosted: the school runs its own server and owns its own data. When AnkiTov runs on a school's server, that server stores:
- Account basics — name, username, and email address.
- Review activity — which cards were reviewed and when, plus sync timestamps.
- Teacher-assigned structure — which decks are assigned to which classes.
That is the whole list. Nothing else is collected, and nothing leaves the school's own host. AnkiTov has no access to it.
Who controls the data
The school operating the server — not AnkiTov, and not any third party. Data never leaves the school's own host.
Students
AnkiTov is built for classrooms, including grades 7–9, so we keep identity to the minimum the software needs. Teachers and schools are responsible for what they enter into their own server; we advise entering only the minimum a school actually requires.
Retention and deletion
On a self-hosted install, data lives in the school's own database. Deleting it — in whole or in part — is the school's decision. AnkiTov has no access to it and no role in it.
